Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since the 1993 season by beating the Mariners in the seventh seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run homer in the seventh frame, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the seven-game series. They will now face the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."
Springer has now slugged 23 total playoff homers, ranking him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that spot besides Springer with his playoff prowess," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a Fall Classic.
Wilson commented "without a doubt that it hurts" following his side's defeat at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he continued.
Toronto secured the title on their two prior appearances in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in game one on Friday.
