Seamer Atkinson Adds to the English team's Injury Problems.

'Serious blow' for the touring side after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer further complicated England's injury problems after leaving the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.

Atkinson pulled up with his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over on Saturday.

The touring camp reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time away from the action in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The English side has already lost strike bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman with an abdominal strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party to provide backup.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, taking just a handful of scalps.

He was dropped from the previous Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

The county bowler improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman as one of just three teammates to get into double digits.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he resumed for the second day's play and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Yet, on the final ball of his spell, he bowled a variation to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test having missed the Adelaide game.
