Manchester United Set to Secure Germany Striker Lea Schüller from the Bavarian Giants

Manchester United are finalising sealing the deal for prolific German forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move from Bayern Munich.

A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side

Schüller, who has half a year left on her deal, is known as a prolific goalscorer for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival will be seen as a major coup for the Women’s Super League team.

Her exit from Bayern has been anticipated after she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the club's fans after a victory over Bayer Leverkusen recently.

It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its top forwards. According to multiple sources, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed.

Consistent Goalscoring to Boost United's Forward Line

The experienced striker's arrival is expected to provide a major boost to the team's forward line. She has been remarkably reliable in front of goal in the Bundesliga.

  • Over seven straight seasons, including the most recent campaign, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
  • She won the Golden Boot in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Gathering Momentum at Old Trafford

The acquisition of Schüller’s signature coincides with a period when the club appear to be building momentum.

Their recent performances feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Off the pitch, the mid-season window has seen further activity:

  1. The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a three-and-a-half-year deal.
  2. The new deal for Japanese midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023.

On the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital part to the way we play. Her understanding of the game and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”

Lundkvist, who has arrived from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can sense how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
