Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
