Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Real-time updates features live text for Sunday's games via multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard on select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week of the NFL season , following recent discussion regarding two top teams being possible championship contenders, they both surrendered their perfect starts.
Notable during those contests was the amount of penalties both committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the fourth period versus the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.
But it proved positive to observe that Denver quarterback Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before direct three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory 21-17.
The Broncos boast the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily sending more than four defenders instead they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, we said on a program how the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They ended the previous year well and excelled in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this season's dark horses?
Recently acquired TE Evan Engram has stepped up significantly while recent RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL in ground gains (402) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).
I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It slows down the pass rush and keeps you in favourable down and distances.
This has benefited quarterback the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw all over, but they lack the mobility that Nix has. He boasts exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths include his mobility, being able to pass while moving, and finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can deliver precision throws across the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and is quick to decide.
When you consistently rush it eats up time and forces the defence to stay on the field for longer, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defence must defend the area downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.
Nix has pushed back with the coach during games sometimes and it seems Payton likes that fire, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a young quarterback that is similar to moldable clay. He can truly build something up how he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him what he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you during difficult moments and build self-belief.
I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team good enough to go against an elite team at its best? Since that wasn't championship-level play from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, I don't think Denver are elite. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in their division. The key is is maintain this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their strength, that is the ground game, and that's exactly what they should do versus the Jets in London. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they're the only team yet to win any game.
Since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to be without a single takeaway in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start following Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.
After the upcoming matchup, Denver face a manageable slate until their break (in week 12) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Los Angeles Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
