Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Legal authorities have announced that a former physician has been charged with carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.

The Grave Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
