Former BBC Specialists Face MPs' Inquiry In the Wake of Allegations of Bias in Leaked Memorandum

Former British Broadcasting Corporation consultants testifying in front of MPs

We start with inquiries from Tory Member of Parliament the panel's head, who chairs the panel.

She initiates by providing background to the disclosed memo written by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning in any particular direction, I simply desire it straight, fair and equitable," he says.

When asked if he believes the BBC is structurally prejudiced, the adviser responds: "No, I do not. Let's be clear, tons of stuff the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is exceptional - both informative and non-factual shows."

But he adds: "There exists significant effort that must be undertaken at the British Broadcasting Corporation."

The second former external BBC specialist interviewed by the group, Caroline Daniel, remarks she views the British Broadcasting Corporation extremely earnestly and that it operates a "continuous process and lively discussion" regarding evolving and intricate topics.

"Did the BBC ready to conduct a proper conversation and debate and implement changes?" she reflects. "In my view, yes they were."
