Arne Slot admitted that it's understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the club's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.
“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received significant backing from the top,” the coach stated.
“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are working as a coach and struggling then it is normal that doubts arise.”
He noted, “I'm comfortable with my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:
“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”
He added, “In the normal conversations we have I feel the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match so far so let’s see.”
The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.
“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.
“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period like this with outcomes like these.”
He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”
“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again the values of this club and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”
“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
